One of the most interesting parts of WoW, that we learned about in the beta, was there was a group of mobs in the game called The Syndicate. They were dressed in Syndicate blue and gray. They dropped an item called Mark of The Syndicate that had no purpose in game. And if farmed enough of them, a named dragon would spawn to attack you or if it was already spawned it would wander by and engage you. The irony that The Syndicate's guildmater is named Dragons and that a named dragon spawns if you kill.

Thottbot has a mysterious entry for the "Mark of the Syndicate" that may point to removed or unreleased content.

Purpose

There are two accounts of the purpose of the "Mark of the Syndicate." The first is an account from the Beta of World of Warcraft, and the second is an as-yet unsubstantiated entry in Thottbot.

Syndicate Quests
Traveling through the Arathi Highlands, players will often collect "Mark of the Syndicate" badges , a seeming piece of vendor trash with no purpose. It appears that these marks may have been part of a secret quest that is now removed or very well hidden.
